This morning, alongside a host of leaders from the Western region, we honoured an invitation to State House Nairobi, where we engaged the President H. E William Ruto on various development plans and progress of priority projects especially those agreed on following the President’s week long tour of Western Kenya including the region’s infrastructure needs, such as road, power connectivity and access to health.
With the Western region known to be a contributor to the country’s food basket, we discussed the level of support our farmers will need as the planting season picks pace to ensure they benefit from the government’s subsidies.
Also on the table were the steps taken to revive sugarcane farming and milling.
We acknowledged the presence of stalled factories and the take up of coffee farming which has proven to give better yields to farmers.
Leaders present include, Prime Cabinet Secretary Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, CSs Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives and MSMEs) and Deborah Mulongo (Health), Governors H.E Fernandes Barasa (Kakamega), H.E Kenneth Lusaka (Bungoma) and H.E Paul Otuoma (Busia), PSs as well as Members of Parliament.
