Alongside our President, Dr. William Ruto, we attended an Interdenominational Church Service in Machakusi, Amukura West Ward, Teso South constituency, Busia County.
During the occasion, I expressed my appreciation for the collaborative efforts between the National and County governments, particularly in the revitalization of Busia County’s struggling cotton industry.
While commending President Ruto for his responsiveness to the plea of cotton farmers, I highlighted the commendable decision to increase the price of cotton from Ksh.52 to Ksh.72 per kilogram. Encouraging local farmers to capitalize on this opportune moment, I emphasized the significance of cultivating cotton as a lucrative alternative source of income.
Drawing attention to Busia County’s historical prominence in cotton farming, specifically in Malaba, Malakisi, and Mulwanda, I urged the county to leverage President Ruto’s commitment by implementing motivational programs. I emphasized on the devolved nature of the Agriculture sector which underscores the need for the county to play a proactive role
In regards to the transformative potential of the proposed dry port at Malaba, I conveyed the belief that it would not only stimulate economic activities but also alleviate the perennial traffic jams caused by trailers awaiting clearance en route to neighboring countries.
I called upon Opposition leaders to reconsider their approach in light of the country’s challenges, in line with the magnification of issues when disparate efforts are pursued.
I reiterated the President’s commitment to resolving challenges through diverse programs and appealed for unified support to manifest these visionary initiatives.
I am grateful to the Iteso community for their unwavering support in the previous elections, and I assured them of the government’s attentiveness to their needs, paralleling its commitment across all communities.
