Senator Wakoli vows to strengthen Ford Kenya in the grassroots

Bungoma Senator David Wafula Wakoli has embarked on strengthening Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya party.

Speaking in Turkana when he met Ford Kenya grassroots leaders, Wakoli told journalists that he has taken up the initiative to meet party leaders as a way to grow and strengthen the outfit.

Ford Kenya lawmakers from the Western region led by Tongaren of MP Murumba Chikati have rallied the region to support National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula for them to realise the dream of a Luhya ascending to power.

Wakoli said that he has had a candid meeting with Ford Kenya leaders in Turkana county and have agreed to work together to strengthen the party.

“This is not only happening in Turkana alone, we are going to involve everybody to ensure that the Ford Kenya party is stronger,” Wakoli said

The senator urged United Democratic Alliance secretary general Cleophas Malala to stop dividing the Kenya Kwanza leaders with the merger plan and, instead, support them.

Earlier,  had asked ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterpart Wetang’ula to merge their parties to make UDA stronger.

Malala’s moves have been trashed by MPs from the Western region.

“UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala should stop the narratives he is telling us of merging the parties. His moves aim at causing cracks in the coalition, something that the soldiers will not agree with,” Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa said.

Wakoli also called on governors to put public resources to prudent utilisation, saying that senators are very steady to play their oversight role.
