National Assembly Speaker, the Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula has today eulogized the Chief of the Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla as great commander in service of his time.
Speaker Wetangโula mourned the late Ogolla as a gallant leader who dedicated his life in serving the country by ensuring that all corners within the Kenyan borders were secure for peaceful coexistence.
โWe have lost a great man, a fine leader, a brilliant and a wonderful communicator โ, mourned Speaker Wetangโula.
Speaking in Siaya County on Sunday during a burial ceremony for Kenyaโs CDF, the Speaker delivered his condolence message and that of the Parliament fraternity terming the loss as untimely and an unfortunate tragedy that has shocked the country.
The Speaker commended President William Ruto for appointing General Ogolla to serve the coutry in the capacity of the Kenya Chief of the Defence Forces saying that the decision by the Head of State is a big lesson to be emulated by other leaders who should work together as one to serve the nation for positive progress.
Dr. Wetangโula fondly remembered incidents where he worked with General Ogolla saying that he was full of plans and a great vision for the country.
โI had an opportunity to work with General Ogolla and his colleagues during my time in Foreign Affairs Minister over the peace issue in the horn of Africa. He had clarity of mind as to what needed to be done to secure the region. Today, we see off a man, who lived by the law, lived by the bible and who live for this country. โ, eulogized Speaker Wetangโula.
The Speaker encouraged the family to look up to the Lord for his protection and care saying that prayers will lift their spirits and strengthen them at this moment of tragedy.
General Ogolla passed on together with other 9 Kenya Defence Forces Officers, after a chopper they were travelling in crashed in Kaben, Marakwet East on Thursday while on a tour of duty.
Leaders attending the burial showered the fallen General with great accolades calling him, humble, firm, and professional and one who feared God in service.
President William Ruto praised the late General Ogolla saying that he deserved the appointment. He said that he was a patriotic commander who died while serving the nation.
The leadership of KDF celebrated their Commander as a mentor, a teacher and father who showed their professional ways in delivering their work.
